AI product photography for watch brands
Updated ยท Stillhouse
The short answer
Stillhouse photographs every watch in your range in one set, with the dial, the hands and the bracelet checked against your own photo before you see the frame. Detail on the dial is restored from your product shot, so the markings are yours.
Photographing watches
A watch is a small machine and a customer inspects it like one. They look at the dial, the markers, the hands, the crown and the clasp. They know what the model is supposed to look like, and they notice when it is wrong.
The surfaces are difficult: a sapphire crystal that reflects everything, polished and brushed steel side by side, and a dial printed in type a millimetre high.
Common photo problems
- 01
Dial text is tiny
The brand, the model name and the markers are small, precise print. A redrawn dial has the wrong text or the wrong spacing.
- 02
The crystal is a mirror
Sapphire glass reflects the room. In a white studio it reflects white; in a set it should reflect the set.
- 03
Polished and brushed steel
The two finishes look different under the same light. Polished steel flares and brushed steel does not.
- 04
The hands matter
Watch pictures conventionally show the hands at ten past ten. A wrong or blurred hand reads as a mistake.
What the studio does about it
- Dial restored from your photo. The dial's detail is brought back from the photo you uploaded. A sharp, straight-on dial shot gives a sharp dial.
- Lit by the set. The case and crystal pick up the room's light, so the product looks like it is in the room.
- Straps and dials from one frame. Reshoot an approved frame for each strap or dial colour. Each is checked against its own photo.
The shot list for watches
- Hero of the watch on a surface in the set
- The dial, close, straight on
- Wrist shot, on a model you cast once
- Side view: case thickness, crown and lugs
- The clasp and the bracelet, laid out
- A silent clip of a slow push-in on the dial
Questions
Will the dial text be correct?
It will match your photo. The studio restores the dial's detail from the product shot you upload and checks the frame against it. Dial text is the hardest detail to keep, so look at close crops before you publish.
Can I show the watch on a wrist?
Yes. Cast a model once, or use a real person with their consent, and the same wrist wears each watch.
Can it show different straps?
Reshoot an approved frame for each strap you sell. The set and pose stay the same, and each is checked against its own photo.
